Christmas cactus (Schlumbergera × buckleyi): Smooth, gently scalloped or rounded margins with no points or teeth. Anthers are purplish-brown. This hybrid blooms four to six weeks later than the Thanksgiving cactus under identical conditions.
Easter cactus (Rhipsalidopsis gaertneri, also sold as Hatiora gaertneri): Rounded margins with four to six slight ripples and tiny brownish bristles at the joints between segments. Flowers are star-shaped and open flat — they close at night, unlike the tubular flowers of the other two.
